As part of efforts to deepen collaboration and amplify the impact of Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) initiatives in Nigeria, key stakeholders across civil society, media, and government sectors convened to review and adopt a unified Community of Practice (CoP) agenda for 2025.
The PCVE CoP Agenda meeting, held under the guidance of the PAVE Network and other partners, was designed to foster multi-stakeholder collaboration, ensure knowledge exchange, and support strategic action for resilience-building against violent extremism, especially at the grassroots level.
Towards a Unified Strategy for Impact
The agenda focused on strengthening coordination among PCVE actors, promoting digital resilience, building community engagement tools, and ensuring that youth voices remain central in programming and advocacy. The CoP framework aims to serve as both a platform and movement, connecting professionals and practitioners from different thematic areas in the PCVE space.
Key components of the agenda included:
Knowledge exchange and technical learning among actors across the six geopolitical zones
Strengthening digital engagement and strategic communications for PCVE
Scaling local resilience models and community-driven peacebuilding tools
Enhancing policy influence and advocacy, particularly in education, media regulation, and youth programming
Fostering mentorship and capacity-building for new entrants in the PCVE sector
A Movement Backed by Purpose
At the heart of the agenda is the principle that PCVE requires not just a policy lens but a people-centered approach, where learning, reflection, and adaptability drive progress. Participants stressed the importance of collective ownership and open knowledge-sharing, and recognized the PCVE CoP as a vehicle for:
Joint response to emerging threats
Amplifying underrepresented voices
Fostering innovation in peacebuilding and digital engagement
Commitment to Action
With the launch of this agenda, the Community of Practice reinforces its role as a catalyst for national cohesion, policy influence, and digital advocacy. Stakeholders committed to convening regularly, sharing updates from their local contexts, and supporting each other’s work through a growing network of action and learning.
Looking Ahead
In alignment with the goals of the PCVE KIRH Hub and the broader peace and security framework in Nigeria, the CoP agenda sets the tone for a unified front in addressing extremism through education, media, and youth inclusion. The meeting concluded with renewed energy and a shared commitment to building resilient communities through collaboration, innovation, and sustained engagement.
